Publisher:
Publish Date: 2002-12-01
Features: The second and third volumes include 62 and 27 articles published during his Swiss period (1900-1909) and (1909-1911), respectively. Among them, the most important is the article "On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies," published in Annalen der Physik in 1905, which marks the dawn of special relativity. This is one of the most important papers of his life, if not the entire 20th century. That same year, he also published his research findings on the photoelectric effect and Brownian motion. For Einstein, 1905 was as significant as Newton's 1665. That summer, Newton returned to Woolsthorpe estate from Cambridge to escape the plague, where he discovered gravity. Both 1905 and 1665 are the most pivotal moments in the history of science.
