Brief Introduction:
With the development of China's tourism industry, people have placed higher and more stringent demands on tourism knowledge. However, up to now, there have been relatively few scholarly works on Chinese tourism culture. Despite various reasons, it is undeniable that to a large extent, it is the profound and vast Chinese tourism culture that has consistently driven and will continue to drive the development of China's tourism industry. Therefore, there is no reason, nor is it permissible, for this phenomenon to persist. This book represents an attempt to address this.
Based on a comprehensive review of existing research on Chinese tourism culture, we have put forward our own perspectives: First, we believe that traditional Chinese culture is the foundation of Chinese tourism culture. Chinese tourism culture is an important component of traditional Chinese culture, and without traditional culture, there can be no tourism culture. Conversely, Chinese tourism culture has its own unique content and development trajectory and cannot be equated with traditional Chinese culture. The process of development and growth of Chinese tourism culture is also the process of traditional Chinese culture becoming more diverse and rich. Second, the content of Chinese tourism culture can be broadly divided into several major parts, including tourism literature, cuisine, religion, folklore, architecture, art, and leisure. Among these, tourism literature is an independent and self-contained part of Chinese tourism culture, and it is the most developed and mature within the entire system. The close relationship between cuisine, religion, folklore, architecture, and art with tourism activities often makes it difficult to determine which aspects should be treated as part of tourism culture and which should be considered pure traditional culture. For this reason, we approach the issue from the perspective most closely related to tourism, striving to define the content of Chinese tourism culture in a way that neither deviates from the fundamental essence of traditional Chinese culture nor fails to reflect the existence of this cultural form.
