Chinese Spoken Language Tutorial

Author: Li Xiaohua
Publisher: Henan University Press
Book Description:
Mandarin spoken language is the standard spoken form of modern Chinese. It is based on Beijing dialect but excludes overly colloquial or rustic elements (such as certain regional accents, words, and idioms), making it relatively close to written language.
Spoken language is a polysemic concept, commonly referring to two meanings: one refers to the spoken language itself (i.e., the symbolic system used for oral communication), and the other refers to spoken expression (i.e., the verbal activity of using spoken language for communication). The former falls under the category of language, while the latter belongs to the category of speech. The course on Mandarin spoken language is a skill-training class aimed at cultivating and improving students' oral expression abilities.
