Patient's question:
I feel like I've contracted a gynecological disease. For the past few days, I've been experiencing frequent lower abdominal pain, abnormal vaginal discharge with a foul odor, and a fever, often around 38 degrees Celsius. After a thorough examination at the hospital, they diagnosed me with endometritis. I don't know how I got this disease, but I suppose I'll understand a few things.Doctor's answer:
Endometritis is the inflammation of the endometrium. Endometritis is primarily caused by bacterial infection. Additionally, neglecting personal hygiene, sexual intercourse during menstruation, and sexual contact with an infected partner can also lead to this condition. The endometrium becomes congested, swollen, and infiltrated with inflammatory cells, with severe cases presenting with pus discharge. Acute endometritis mainly manifests as fever, lower abdominal pain, increased vaginal discharge (sometimes bloody or foul-smelling), and sometimes a slightly enlarged uterus with tenderness. Acute endometritis can further progress to myometritis.
