Features: This book is one of the four series featuring famous classical Chinese literary works and contemporary paintings, with the other three being "Poetry and Painting · Three Hundred Poems of Tang and Song," "Qu and Painting · Three Hundred Qu of Yuan Dynasty," and "Prose and Painting · Two Ancient Prose Pieces." Tang and Song Ci poetry is one of the most accomplished treasures in Chinese literature. It relies on melody to fill words, showcasing the beauty of rhythm, and refines words to create scenes, embodying the taste beyond the words. Its styles range from subtle and elegant to unrestrained and bold, representing another peak in the development of traditional Chinese rhyming literature and having been widely appreciated by readers throughout history.
Collections and selected works of Tang and Song Ci poetry have been published since the Song Dynasty. For this release, "Ci and Painting · Three Hundred Poems of Tang and Song," we focus on the book's appreciation and collection value, highlighting the complementary function of traditional Chinese poetry (Ci, Qu) and painting. We aim to achieve a harmonious blend of text and images with elegant and exquisite design.
For this purpose, our publishing house, in collaboration with Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House, has selected 309 Ci poems from various authors to reflect the general development of Tang and Song Ci poetry. We have invited renowned contemporary painters across the country to create beautiful illustrations for each poem, allowing the emotions of the Ci to resonate with the imagery of the paintings. Additionally, we have paired each piece with insightful and elegant commentaries written by classical literature experts, ensuring that this outstanding literary heritage of Tang and Song Ci poetry shines with a new brilliance in the modern era.
