Features: Perhaps I really had a connection with Xinglu. Long ago, when I was applying for a master's degree, he once wrote to our research lab to inquire. At the time, I happened to write the reply to him, which was our first contact. Later, when he applied for a doctoral degree, he sent me a master's thesis titled "A History of Du Fu Studies." At that time, I was considering expanding our critical history research into academic history and research history, and his article naturally caught my interest. Then, I was suffering from a severe illness in the hospital, with splitting headaches. I had to stop after reading a few lines, and yet I managed to read the entire thesis intermittently by the bedside, deeply feeling that he had the potential to further pursue research history. Fortunately, his exam was successful, and he was admitted, joining my side. When he arrived, my National Social Science Fund key project "A History of Twentieth-Century Chinese Literature Research" had just been approved, so I entrusted him with the "General Volume" and let him go into the deep sea to learn to swim. Because I believed he would make an effort to stay afloat and not sink. Over the years, with his diligence, he not only excellently completed the nearly 600,000-word "General Volume" but also produced many by-products. From Fudan University to the Shanghai Library, to the Beijing Library, and elsewhere, he made every effort to thoroughly review the achievements of twentieth-century literary research and gather useful materials, constantly making new discoveries.
