Author: Li Junqi Gao Keqin
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2001-12-01
Features: This book presents the 448 portraits of literary figures depicted in the scroll in a right-to-left format, cutting them into 130 illustrations, each featuring one or more individuals. These illustrations are divided into seven chronological sections: Pre-Qin and Han, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Sui and Five Dynasties, Song, Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing, and Modern. The arrangement occasionally deviates from chronological order but follows the sequence of the scroll. To assist readers in understanding the characters depicted by the painter, the editors have invited Mr. Gao Keqin and others to provide concise introductions to the life stories of the literary figures portrayed in the scroll. In some places, selected literary works are listed as supplementary material. Additionally, a brief overview of literary development during each era is provided before the introduction of literary figures in each section, aiming to create a visually rich and comprehensive illustrated literary history centered around the lives of the literary figures.
