Do you need to go through the fallopian tube?

Patient's question:

I've been married to my husband for several years, but we haven't had a baby yet. I went to the hospital for a thorough check-up, but there were no results. This time, the hospital's detailed examination revealed that my fallopian tubes are blocked. If the fallopian tubes are cleared, there might be a chance of pregnancy, but the success rate is only 50%. I don't know if I need to have the fallopian tubes cleared?

Doctor's answer:

You have been married for several years without getting pregnant, which indicates the presence of infertility. The cause of infertility has now been identified as blocked fallopian tubes. It may be possible to consider a procedure to unblock the fallopian tubes to restore their function. Once the fallopian tubes are unblocked, the chances of pregnancy are generally higher. If necessary, you could consider in vitro fertilization (IVF), but the success rate of IVF is only around 30~40%. Compared to the success rate of unblocking the fallopian tubes, the latter is still more effective.
