Features: Shiohara Reiko was born in Tokyo in 1950 and graduated from the Department of Chinese Literature at Waseda University in Japan. She studied abroad at Nanyang University in Singapore and Seoul National University in South Korea. She served as the secretary to Shibusawa Masayuki, the grandson of Shibusawa Eiichi, and later worked for the American Life Insurance Company in Asia. She then engaged in venture-related businesses in Silicon Valley, USA. In the late 1980s, she shifted her focus to China, establishing a wholly-owned subsidiary in Beijing called Ask, and began working on China's first?greening projects. During this time, she helped promote the "1 Billion Yen Koizumi Fund" for advancing China's greening efforts and widely participated in the establishment of the "Japan-China Greening Promotion" and other projects, such as the Chaohu Water Quality Purification Project in Anhui Province and the preparatory committee for the establishment of the Tokyo Chinese School. She has written books such as "Should You Marry a Japanese Woman or a Chinese Woman!?" (Japanese Bungeishunju Publishing House, 1999) and "Should You Make Friends with a Chinese or a Japanese!?" (Japanese Abe Publishing House, 2002). From 1997 to 1999, she wrote the Monday column "The Mysteries of Asia" for the Nikkei Industry News of the Nikkei Publishing Group. She married a Korean and has two daughters.
