Patient's question:
Uterine fibroids with excessive menstrual bleeding, taking medication each time when bleeding is heavy. Hello doctor, is long-term use of medication safe without any adverse reactions? Are there other methods besides surgery to treat excessive menstrual bleeding? Thank you very much!!!Doctor's answer:
If the fibroid is small, asymptomatic, without complications or degeneration, treatment is generally not required. This is especially true for women who have reached menopause, as estrogen levels decline after menopause, causing the fibroid to naturally shrink or disappear. Regular follow-up (every 3 to 6 months) is sufficient. If follow-up reveals that the fibroid has shrunk or symptoms become significant, further treatment should be considered.Surgical treatment:
(1) Hysterectomy: Suitable for uteri larger than 3 months of pregnancy, even if the fibroid is not large but symptoms are significant, or if the fibroid grows rapidly and cannot be removed due to malignancy.
(2) Myomectomy: Suitable for patients under 35, married, or who have not been pregnant.
