Features: Chinese folk art is a folk cultural art created by rural laboring women and the hundreds of millions of laboring masses in rural China. It is a collective cultural art and the cradle of Chinese national cultural art. It is integrated into the social life of the ethnic group, including clothing, food, housing, transportation, festivals, customs, life rituals, and taboos. It is a continuation of the original culture of China from ancient times to the present, and it has distinct ethnic and regional characteristics. It is the oldest, most popular, and most regionally distinctive historical and cultural art form in the cultural morphology of the Chinese nation, embodying the historical and cultural heritage accumulated over seven or eight thousand years from the primitive society to the present. Chinese folk art is a visual image art created by the Chinese folk masses to meet their own social life needs. Folk art is relative to the art of the court, nobility, literati, academies, and professional artists. First, in terms of its creators, it is a collective art created by hundreds of millions of laborers, not the art of a few professional artists; it is amateur, not professional. Second, in terms of its social function, it is mainly created to meet the needs of its own social life, including production and daily life, clothing, food, housing, life rituals, beliefs, taboos, and artistic life, rather than for the needs of commodity production and social politics.
