Features: Water Margin is a long historical novel that was ultimately completed after hundreds of years of brewing and accumulation during the Song and Yuan dynasties. Water Margin portrays a group of vivid and brilliant legendary heroes with distinct personalities: the bold and fierce Wu Song, the loyal and straightforward Li Kui, the rough yet simple-minded Lu Zhishen, the brave and intelligent Shi Xiu, and the righteous and skilled Song Jiang, among others. Water Margin inherits the tradition of Song and Yuan storytelling tales (huaben), based on Northern dialects, and crafts an expressive, highly evocative, and exceptionally rich literary language, considered a masterpiece of perfection.
