4. The character fonts in this dictionary adhere to the "Total List of Simplified Characters" and the "Rectification Table for Variant Characters." In special cases, traditional characters or variant characters may be retained.
5. The main text is arranged in order of the stroke count of the first character of each quote, from fewest to most.
6. The stroke index is organized by the stroke count and starting stroke shape of the first character of each quote. For convenience in searching, key phrases following the first sentence are also included in the index.
7. Translation: The primary approach is literal translation. To preserve the original meaning, any text that is not in the original but needs to be supplemented is written in parentheses “()” for distinction.
8. Annotations: The original meaning of characters or words is listed first, followed by extended meanings and metaphorical meanings.
9. Pronunciation: Pinyin is used for annotation, with tone marks added. When there are no homophones, homophones with tone names are noted, with the tone marked in the lower right corner.
10. Sources: For quotes cited from Confucian classics and pre-Qin philosophers, the book and chapter names are listed.
11. Explanations: Introduce the authors and their significant works, as well as the background, purpose, artistic features, style, historical status, and influence of the works. For well-known and excellent quotes, necessary appreciation is provided.
12. In quotations, when triple quotation marks are used, the outermost are double quotation marks, the middle are single quotation marks, and the innermost are double quotation marks in FangSong typeface. Corresponding quotations are also displayed in FangSong typeface.
