Features: The development of society, the advancement of science, and the progress of thought always require a certain environment rich in nourishment. This environment, in the hearts of rational and spirited people, is primarily the accumulation of abundant intellectual materials. Since the mid-19th century, many scholars in modern China have devoted themselves to the translation of Western classics, achieving remarkable results and leaving an indelible legacy. However, with the passage of time, Western scholars have continuously published new works on various issues of modern society, which undoubtedly hold significant enlightenment and reference value for the broad readership in contemporary China. Therefore, there is still much work to be done in translating and publishing modern Western intellectual classics. As readers know, modern Western thought is not only characterized by a diverse array of schools and traditions but also demonstrates a profound transformation, increasingly moving toward comprehensive development. At the same time, this elusive trend reveals deep historical roots, cultural backgrounds, and the continuity of academic traditions. The establishment of the "Modern Western Thought Library" is precisely aimed at continuing the noble endeavor of translating Western intellectual classics, providing essential nourishment or sustenance for our intellectual and academic circles to understand and draw inspiration from the essence of modern Western thought, with the hope of furthering their progress on the arduous yet rewarding path of exploration, where both thorns and flowers coexist. The "Modern Western Thought Library" is both a grand and complex undertaking and an extremely challenging and burdensome mission. In the process of carrying out this work and during the journey of this endeavor, we sincerely express our gratitude to the readers who have shown interest in this library.
