Features: To improve the English proficiency of Chinese standardization personnel in participating in international standardization activities and meet the needs of engaging in such activities, the National Standardization Administration of China organized the compilation of the "Practical English for International Standardization." This textbook aims to enhance the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills of standardization personnel by learning relevant knowledge of international standardization activities. The materials included cover almost all aspects of international standardization activities. The textbook adopts various forms such as listening training, dialogue exercises, and thematic discussions, while also designing simulated scenarios for activities related to international standardization, providing learners with an immersive experience. The textbook consists of 10 units and 4 appendices. The content of Units 1 to 8 are: International Organization for Standardization (ISO), How ISO Works, International Standards, Participating in ISO/IEC Technical Work, International Standardization Conferences, Adoption of International Standards, Conformity Assessment, and International Standardization Visits. These 8 units are designed to improve learners' listening and speaking skills, each including 3 listening materials with accompanying listening comprehension and dialogue exercises. To expand learners' English knowledge and vocabulary in international standardization activities, each unit is followed by self-study reading materials. Unit 9, "Travel," covers travel and accommodation knowledge necessary for participating in international activities, including basic dialogues, common vocabulary, and expressions related to travel and accommodation. Unit 10, "Translation and Practice of International Standardization Materials," is designed to improve learners' ability to translate international standards and related materials.
