Features: This exquisite series, which republishes all current World War II materials, has become the most comprehensive and vivid publication in history to document the Second World War. "The Illustrated History of World War II" Volume 9 includes issues 206 to 230 of the magazine, covering the period from May 1945 to April 1946. In the previous volumes, we described the war situation section by section over the past six years, as the war situation gradually improved until this volume reached the climax of the war victory. Allied forces converged on the heart of Germany along both Eastern and Western fronts, and soon the Soviet army captured Berlin, leading to the collapse of Hitler, Goebbels, and Himmler's regime. Green, Ribbentrop, and other Nazi war criminals were successively captured and brought before the Nuremberg War Crimes Tribunal, the largest war crimes tribunal in world history. The Italian people executed Mussolini, and the Nazi government quickly collapsed as Allied forces won in Italy. In celebration, the Italian people held unforgettable festivities across the country, adding a cherry on top of the final days of the war on the Western Front. We also recorded a series of victories on the Pacific front. British forces in Burma secured the recapture of Rangoon. Australian troops cleared Japanese forces from New Guinea. In just 82 days, the Battle of Okinawa pushed the U.S. military's "island-hopping" (frog) strategy to its peak. Okinawa served as a stepping stone for invading the Japanese homeland, allowing the Allies to carry out rapid and intensive bombing campaigns against Japan. The U.S. military dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in succession, changing the nature of the war and forcing Japan to surrender quickly. Politically, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt passed away, and President Truman took office. The United Kingdom held a general election, leading to a government change at the Potsdam Conference. With hopeful aspirations for the future, people gathered in San Francisco to form the United Nations Organization, striving to build a better world. Its th meeting was held in Westminster, London. At the meeting, the British government worked to transform the rich fruits of the war into a path to peace. With an optimistic vision of the future, we conclude this volume of "The Illustrated History of World War II."
