Features: Postscript: "Synchronous Memorial" The first National Primary and Middle School Students' Letter Writing Competition is about to draw to a perfect close under this bright spring sunshine. From organizing the essay contest to editing and publishing, the event spanned nearly ten months, receiving over 800,000 letters from primary and middle school students across the country, exceeding our original expectations. This demonstrates that the event achieved its intended goals. Seeing so many students' works included in the anthology truly made us feel happy and excited. Especially in these works, the patriotic passion and genuine human emotions expressed by the students deeply moved us. However, we regret that due to space limitations, only first and second prize works were selected this time, and not all outstanding submissions could be included. We sincerely ask for the understanding of teachers and students. Fortunately, we will have the opportunity to meet again next time.
The selection and editing of this essay contest involved a great deal of work. Some writers, teachers, and editors participated in this effort and put in hard work, but they said that the book owes more to the unsung teachers who quietly and earnestly guided the students in writing their essays. Compared to them, our work is insignificant. This is also the heartfelt sentiment of all the editors.
After the postscript, we reflected that the 21st century is a rapidly developing information society. With the acceleration of life's pace, people's lifestyles will change, and their emotional worlds may also become more distant. Perhaps after creating increasingly abundant material wealth, people will realize that they are missing the communication and sincere emotions between one another. If a "China Letter Day" could be established, encouraging people to pick up their pens on a special day to write a letter (including email) to their intended recipients, it would bring people invaluable human emotions. This would be a great spiritual enjoyment for everyone. It would surely play a positive role in enhancing the cohesion of the Chinese nation, promoting Chinese culture, and cultivating people's character.
In short, letters are not just a tool but also our friends. They walk alongside us in sync with the century.
