Which is safer, painless abortion or medication abortion?

Patient's question:

I just got married to my husband. Because of my busy work schedule, we haven't wanted children recently. A week ago, I found out I was pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. However, I heard that medication abortion might not be completely effective, and I'm also sad about the option of painless abortion. I'd like to consult and find out which is safer: painless abortion or medication abortion?

Doctor's answer:

Actually, whether it's medication abortion or painless abortion, both carry risks. If not handled properly, there's a possibility of incomplete miscarriage, requiring a second procedure to clear the uterus, or infection leading to gynecological diseases. Severe cases may even affect future fertility. So, if possible, it's best to rest and carry the pregnancy to term. If an abortion is absolutely necessary, I personally recommend medication abortion within the appropriate timeframe, as it doesn't involve entering the uterus, which is relatively less harmful.
