This series of textbooks includes 13 titles such as Introduction to Printing, Printing Color, Printing Materials, Lithographic Printing Technology, Typesetting Technology, Lithographic Plate Making, Plate Exposure and Proofing, Bookbinding Technology, Printing Machine Structure and Adjustment, Printing Cost Calculation, Printing Image Processing, Packaging Printing, and Surface Finishing. The first 10 are published by China Labor Security and Social Insurance Publishing House, and the last 3 are published by Chemical Industry Press. At the end of 2003, the textbook writing committee and China Labor Security and Social Insurance Publishing House organized a printing professional textbook development meeting in Anhui. Leaders from publishing and press schools in Beijing, Liaoning, Shanghai, Guangdong, Anhui, Shandong, Jiangsu, and Jiangxi, as well as members of the textbook writing committee, attended the meeting. The writing committee addressed issues such as the existing textbooks lagging behind current enterprise production practices, emphasizing knowledge systems while neglecting operational skills, and clarified the philosophy for the new series of textbooks: shifting from single-discipline learning to cultivating comprehensive talents, integrating professional knowledge with production skills teaching. During the writing process, we aimed to reflect the following characteristics:
- Practicality: Based on the teaching realities of vocational schools, the textbooks help students master fundamental professional knowledge and basic operational skills. At the same time, they adapt to the industry's requirements for practitioners, reflecting modern production equipment, technology, and processes as much as possible while considering the existing teaching conditions of schools.
- Targetedness: Using vocational skill assessment standards as the teaching benchmark, the textbooks strive to reflect the characteristics of industry trades and technical grade standards, emphasizing operational skill teaching and practical training while incorporating relevant professional knowledge.
- Advancement: Reflecting the direction of teaching reform in vocational schools and advanced textbook writing models, the textbooks are designed based on the current realities of students, with employment as the orientation. They follow technical skill standards for job positions and are structured and contented according to teaching models such as "production task-driven" and "case-based teaching."
- Adaptability: The textbooks aim to meet the needs of vocational education on a broader scale. In addition to serving as teaching materials for printing majors in vocational schools, they can also be used as self-study resources for readers in the printing industry, technical training for working professionals in the industry, and teaching materials for vocational skill assessment and training in this trade.
