Features: The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon is a foundational course for traditional Chinese medicine education at the university level, as well as an advanced course after completing Fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It also serves as the foundation for studying and researching other disciplines in traditional Chinese medicine. Based on the experience accumulated from previous national unified textbooks of The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon published since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and in line with the demands of the new century for the knowledge, skills, and qualities of higher education in traditional Chinese medicine, this textbook has undergone significant improvements in both its format and content. The textbook has the following features:
1. Carefully selected original texts. The textbook carefully selects original texts from the 162 chapters of the Inner Canon, dividing them into two parts: Part one, selecting outstanding passages as the main content of "Selected Readings from Original Texts." Part two, specially setting up "Collected Texts from the Inner Canon," to compile excerpts from other chapters related to the unit content, preserving the exquisite and memorable sentences from the original texts. These excerpts can serve as references for teaching or self-study in Part one.
2. Reflecting inheritance and innovation. In the "Introduction" section, additional content is added, including the construction method of the theoretical system of The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon, its academic characteristics, and its academic value, reflecting contemporary scholars' understanding and appreciation of The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon. This helps beginners better grasp the spiritual essence and academic value of The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon.
3. Reflecting the characteristics of the times. Furthermore, all the original texts of The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon used in this book are written in simplified characters to meet the needs of modern readers. At the end of each unit, there are "Unit Summaries" and "Discussion Questions" to help students summarize key points or organize discussions and reflections for teaching or self-study.
