New Index of the Thirteen Classics - Revised Edition

Author: Li Bo et al. (Editor-in-Chief)
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2004-01-01
Features:
1. This book is compiled based on the photolithographic edition of the "Thirteen Classics with Annotations and Explanations" published by Zhonghua Book Company in November 1979. It indexes the canonical texts of the "Thirteen Classics with Annotations and Explanations." The character forms and punctuation in the index follow this edition, and we have corrected some erroneous character forms and punctuation.
2. The single-character index in this book can be searched using the radical and stroke table, the phonetic index table, and the four-corner code index table. For names of people, places, official titles, quoted works, other proper nouns, and the index of collation notes, special category index tables are provided in the order of radicals and strokes for easy reference.
3. All content of the index, including index entries and the quoted sentences they lead to, are arranged in the order of the radical and stroke count of single characters from "Ci Yuan" (Dictionary of Chinese Characters). Those with fewer strokes in the radical and stroke count of the single character appear first, while those with more strokes follow. If the single character has the same number of strokes, the order is determined by the stroke count of the second character, and so on. Other index items (names of people, places, official titles, quoted works, other proper nouns, and the index of collation notes) are treated in the same way.
4. This book adopts a divided index method for the "Thirteen Classics." For each index entry (including single characters, names of people, places, official titles, quoted works, other proper nouns, and the index of collation notes), the number of times it appears in the "Thirteen Classics" is indicated. Then, in the order of the "Thirteen Classics" from the Book of Changes to the Mencius, the number of times the index entry appears in each classic is marked. Finally, all sentences containing the entry are quoted.
