It is divided into two volumes: the first volume is the Chinese Legal Studies volume, and the second volume is the Foreign Legal Studies volume. The first volume is arranged chronologically in three parts: "Ancient Period (—1840)," "Modern Period (1840—1949)," and "Contemporary Period (1949—2001)." The second volume is arranged by category: "Laws—Canons," "Systems—Institutions," "Figures—Works," and "Events—Cases." This book is advised by renowned experts and scholars in China's judicial field. It is prefaced by Zhang Jinjiang, a distinguished legal literature expert, a life professor at China University of Political Science and Law, and a doctoral supervisor, who wrote the preface in person. Renowned experts and scholars from institutions such as Peking University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, and Legal Daily have served as editors-in-chief, deputy editors-in-chief, and contributors. Among them, there are 11 doctoral degree holders and 16 master's degree holders; 35 individuals hold senior titles such as professors, associate professors, senior editors, and chief editors. The topic planning and editorial format of this book were proposed and designed by Li Chu, and the overall implementation was carried out by Li Chu. The book underwent two major revisions and compilations. In the first compilation, the first volume was overseen by Li Guilian, Li Jing, Qiao Congqi, and Liu Guang'an, while the second volume was overseen by Li Jing, Zeng Erhu, Liu Dawei, and Zhao Xiaoxin. In the second revision, the ancient and modern parts of the first volume were compiled by Zhao Xiaogeng and Che Dieli, while the contemporary part was compiled by Wu Zhenzong. The second volume was compiled by Zeng Erhu, and the entire book was finally compiled and edited by Li Yi.
