Features: With the increasing globalization of the economy, bankruptcy legal systems signify the economic credit level of a jurisdiction and influence its economic development. China is currently drafting a unified bankruptcy law to end the two parallel bankruptcy systems previously in place, which will further promote the development of the current market economy. The translator has translated and introduced the UK's 1986 Bankruptcy Act, hoping to provide necessary references and insights for legal and economic professionals engaged in bankruptcy theoretical research and practice. The UK is the birthplace of common law, where court judgments since the Middle Ages have played a significant role and influence in the judicial system. To enhance readers' understanding of certain important bankruptcy provisions in the 1986 Bankruptcy Act through the reasoning and analysis in UK court judgments, the translator has selected and excerpted judgments from five key cases, along with brief introductions to the relevant bankruptcy systems. It must be acknowledged that the translator has many shortcomings in translating this extensive legal system. The law is complex and the language is meticulous and precise, making it difficult to grasp accurately. Any inaccuracies or omissions in the translation are kindly requested to be pointed out by the readers. At the time of this book's publication, the translator would like to sincerely express gratitude to their mentor, Professor David Milman of the School of Law at the University of Manchester, a bankruptcy law expert in the UK. During the translation process of the 1986 Bankruptcy Act, the translator received multiple explanations and guidance from Professor David Milman on relevant provisions of the law, which facilitated the successful completion of the translation.
