Essentials of Modern Obstetrics and Gynecology in English

Author: Feng Youji
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2003-01-01
Features: This book is an English supplementary reader for the Clinical Medicine programs (5-year and 7-year) of medical schools in China. The purpose of compiling this book is to: enable clinical medical students to familiarize themselves with professional English in obstetrics and gynecology, improve their foreign language proficiency; understand the current state of obstetrics and gynecology healthcare both domestically and internationally, and enhance students' professional skills through comparison and reflection between the Chinese and English versions; lay the foundation for future development of bilingual teaching materials in obstetrics and gynecology. This book is excerpted from the authoritative North American medical textbook Current Obstetric & Gynecologic Diagnosis & Treatment. Due to its advanced content, it integrates some of the latest scientific developments in the field of obstetrics and gynecology worldwide. The language is concise and clear, making it easy to understand, suitable for clinical medical students as well as gynecologists and obstetricians with low to mid-level professional experience. The chapters are selected and arranged to correspond to those in the Chinese version, and Chinese legal units of measurement have been added before the original units to align with the Chinese textbook. The book also features selected illustrations and tables to complement the Chinese version. This is a copy of certain chapters from the original English book, not a translation of the Chinese textbook. Therefore, any treatments and medication methods mentioned in the book follow Western standards, and in cases where they differ from the Chinese textbook, the latter should be used as the reference. Additionally, to maintain consistency with the original book, only the diseases from each chapter are reflected in the table of contents, while other titles are not fully listed. For the sake of reflecting the continuity of chapters, secondary titles in the table of contents are also capitalized only at the beginning of words, which is somewhat inconsistent with the fully capitalized titles in the main text. These differences from the Chinese textbook should be noted by readers. Although this book is a copy of the original English text, the authors have still put their utmost effort into the selection, printing, and proofreading process. If any errors or inaccuracies are found, we sincerely hope that teachers and students from various schools and colleagues in obstetrics and gynecology will point them out for correction and improvement.
