Features: This textbook primarily addresses introductory issues in law. Its main feature lies in the fact that the textbook was developed based on reforms in the teaching of traditional legal theory. The Department of Jurisprudence at Southwest University of Political Science and Law began this teaching reform in 1996, transforming the single course of "Fundamentals of Legal Theory" or "Jurisprudence" into two separate courses: "Introduction to Law" and "Jurisprudence," along with their respective teaching models. "Introduction to Law" explains basic legal theories and concepts to undergraduate students who are new to law before other law-related courses are offered. This reform was awarded the First Prize for Teaching Reform Achievements by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, and "Introduction to Law" was included in the unified college liberal arts textbook series in 1997 and 1998. Since the textbook was first published in December 1997, it has undergone three revisions. This edition is the fourth version of the textbook. The fourth edition of this textbook has undergone significant revisions based on the third edition. The revision of the textbook content is partly due to the development of understanding and theory, where the political and class connotations in the basic concepts and theories of law have gradually been weakened, emphasizing the theoretical and academic nature of legal theory. On the other hand, the revision of this textbook also stems from the authors' stringent demands for textbook quality and the teaching process itself. The textbook has been adjusted in terms of theoretical key points and content in relevant chapters. The authors hope that through the revision of the textbook, it will continue to improve.
