Features: Since 1990, the IPCC has successively organized experts from various disciplines around the world to compile and publish three assessment reports, namely the Climate Change Second Assessment Report published in 1990, the Second Assessment Report on Climate Change published in 1996, and the Third Assessment Report and Synthesis Report on Climate Change published in 2010. These reports have provided a wealth of basic research information for international efforts to mitigate climate change, while also serving as a very comprehensive and detailed synthesis report on climate change research and an excellent reference for academic studies. Due to the substantial length of these reports, it is difficult to read them in detail; moreover, they are written in English, which greatly limits the understanding of the reports by readers in non-English-speaking countries. To address this situation, the Technical Support Unit of the IPCC's third working group provided funding and organized the IPCC Public Awareness Project, with the aim of translating the main sections of the IPCC reports into local languages to make the information more accessible to a broader audience. This book is part of that project, compiled by experts and researchers in the field of climate change research in China, organized by the Energy Research Institute, National Development and Reform Commission, and the Institute of World Politics and Economy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The main content and perspectives of this book adopt the writing style of the IPCC reports to review and evaluate China's research and achievements in the field of climate change, sharing them with readers.
