Features: This book is one of the research outcomes of the National Natural Science Foundation of China Major Project "Ecological Service Functions and Regulation Mechanisms of Urban Development in Hujiashan Area" (39930040) and the Knowledge Innovation Project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences "Process and Evolution Research of Beijing Urban Ecosystem" (KZCX3—SW-424). This study selects the Hujiashan area, an ecosystem type with intensive human activities, as the main research object. Using the theory of complex ecosystems, landscape ecology, and systems engineering methods, it identifies the evolutionary patterns of ecosystems under different levels of urbanization, investigates the ecological stress effects caused by high-intensity socio-economic activities, rapid industrial development, and the rise of high-consumption, high-energy, and high-pollution industries on water bodies, atmosphere, soil, and organisms, as well as the impact mechanisms and assessment methods of ecological service functions. It explores the systematic regulation mechanisms of urban ecological service functions. This research will provide scientific theories, methods, and decision-making references for the protection and construction of ecological foundations in densely populated areas (such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Pearl River Delta, etc.) and other urbanizing regions in China for sustainable development.
