Features: Whether a university performs well largely depends on whether the president is competent. This issue is particularly prominent in the history of Tsinghua University. At Tsinghua, especially during the "Old Tsinghua" period before 1948, there were several instances of "presidential turmoil," leading to periods of extreme instability as well as periods of great peace and stability. The longest presidential term lasted for 17 years, while the shortest was only two months. It has been proven that whenever a competent and widely supported president was in office, the university's development during that period would undoubtedly achieve significant progress, sometimes even landmark achievements. Conversely, whenever there were issues with the presidential selection, resulting in an incompetent or unpopular president, the university's development during that period would inevitably face setbacks.
