This paper discusses the basic characteristics of the "focus phenomenon" from the perspectives of sociology, political science, and communication studies, examines the political features, value systems, cultural environment, and social psychology of China during its social transformation, as well as the impact of communication policies on mass media. It also reviews the role positioning of China's news media under the new economic environment.
