Features: Wang Yuanqi's landscape paintings follow the style of Huang Gongwang from the Yuan Dynasty but are rich in color and deep in texture. He dedicated his life to landscape painting, attracting numerous followers, forming a profound influence on the Chinese painting world. His style, unconstrained by ancient methods, features thick and powerful brushwork, creating a "Loudong School" of ink and wash painting. Many followers emerged, such as Huang Ding, Tang Dai, Zhang Zongcang, and Dong Bangda. Western missionary painter Giuseppe Castiglione also applied techniques like perspective, chiaroscuro, and human anatomy, blending them with Chinese painting methods. This had a significant impact on some Chinese painters, such as Ling Mei, Chen Mei, and Ding Guanpeng, who emulated his style. This fusion of Eastern and Western painting became a new trend at the time. This volume collects 123 works and 226 illustrations by Wang Yuanqi and his followers, as well as other court painters like Giuseppe Castiglione.
