Features: Hebei Province, located in the Yan-Zhao land of China, boasts a long history and rich cultural heritage, making it one of China's leading provinces in terms of cultural relics. The vast number of artifacts document Hebei's 7,000-year civilization. The Cishan Culture site, dating back approximately 7,000 years, reveals the ancient agricultural development of Hebei. The Yangshao Culture site, around 5,500 years old, provides insights into the living conditions of the time. Sculptural artworks unearthed from the Hongshan Culture site reflect the social structure of that era. The bronze fragments discovered at the Longshan Culture site foreshadowed the coming of the Bronze Age. The Shang Dynasty once moved its capital to the area around Xingtai in Hebei, and the Caoyanzhuang site has uncovered abundant early Shang Dynasty relics. The Taixi site in Gaocheng has revealed large-scale middle and late Shang Dynasty ruins, including valuable artifacts such as iron-edged bronze axes, as well as important remnants like lacquerware, silk textiles, primitive porcelain, and brewing techniques. During the Western Zhou Dynasty, feudal lords were enfeoffed, and by the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, excavations and clearings were carried out at the ancient city of Handan Zhao, the Yan Xiaodu in Yi County, and the Lingzhou Zhongshan Kingdom ruins. The tomb of the Zhongshan King Li is a remarkable discovery in archaeology. Additionally, iron-smelting sites have also drawn significant attention. Hebei's Han Dynasty archaeology has yielded fruitful results. The most important excavation includes the tombs of Liu Sheng and his wife, the Zhongshan King Jing of the Han Dynasty, where the gold-threaded jade suit and all the exquisite artifacts are masterpieces of the skilled craftsmen of the Western Han Dynasty. In Ding County, the tombs of the Zhongshan King Huai, Zhongshan King Jian, Zhongshan King Mu, and Changshan King were also excavated. The artifacts unearthed across the province bear witness to the economic development of the Han Dynasty. The two Eastern Han Dynasty tombs in Wangdu and Anping vividly recreate the lives of Han Dynasty nobles through mural art. Since the Three Kingdoms period, the city of Ye has played a pivotal role in the history of urban development in China, serving as a bridge between the past and the future. The rapid development of Buddhist art during the Northern and Southern Dynasties left behind numerous remains both above and below ground, complementing the unearthed celadon works and tomb murals. The culture of Hebei during the Tang, Song, Liao, and Jin dynasties shone alongside that of the Central Plains. The Xing Kiln, Ding Kiln, and Cizhou Kiln are collectively known as Hebei's three major famous kilns. Since the Song Dynasty, painting and calligraphy art has achieved high-level development, with outstanding works produced continuously, many of which were created by renowned masters. All these exquisite artifacts are mostly collected in the Hebei Provincial Museum. The Hebei Provincial Museum is located on the southern side of Zhongshan Road in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province. Its main building is magnificent, solemn, and simple. The museum houses 150,000 artifacts, with its highlights including national treasures such as the gold-threaded jade suit of Liu Sheng, the gold-threaded jade suit of Dou Wan, the gold-and-silver-inlaid Baoshan furnace, the gilded Changxin Palace lantern, the carved double-dragon jade plaque, and the blue-and-white porcelain with underglaze red openwork and carved patterns. It also features calligraphy and paintings of Hebei celebrities from the Ming and Qing dynasties, Song and Yuan dynasty ceramics, and revolutionary artifacts from the War of Resistance against Japan. In recent years, the Hebei Provincial Museum has introduced a series of exhibitions with Hebei characteristics to domestic and international audiences, showcasing its rich historical artifacts and modern display techniques. Through exquisite artifacts and thoughtful presentation styles, the museum has introduced the 7,000-year history of civilization in Hebei. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, this collection of cultural relics has been compiled to delight readers.
