Features: This book primarily employs the Hypothesis-driven Method, widely adopted in Western academia, to examine the impact of various factors on the localization of research and development (R&D) of multinational corporations (MNCs) in China. Quantitative analytical tools are used to test the hypotheses, and a multiple linear regression method is applied to evaluate the factors that may influence MNC R&D localization in China. In terms of analytical methods, statistical software packages and engineering computational software packages are utilized to process statistical data on MNC R&D and its localization in China. Regression models and econometric models are adopted, with profit maximization as the objective function, to conduct a game-theoretic study on MNC R&D localization in China and China's policy choices. The author's research consistently revolves around the practical conditions of MNC R&D localization in China, striving to combine theory with practice. A large amount of statistical data is cited, and analysis is conducted with data as the primary basis, aiming to integrate qualitative and quantitative analysis. In theoretical analysis, a practical approach is pursued, striving to balance scientific rigor and applicability. At the same time, comparative and innovative analysis is emphasized, aiming to combine Chinese characteristics with international practices. The book, including the introduction, is divided into 8 chapters. First, the theoretical foundation of this research is elaborated, primarily reviewing the current theories and ideas related to MNC R&D localization. Then, an analytical framework for MNC R&D localization in China is established. Through research and analysis of the main manifestations, characteristics, types, and motivations of global R&D localization by MNCs, the study focuses on the locational environmental factors influencing MNC R&D localization, with an emphasis on analyzing the impact of R&D localization on both the home and host countries. Additionally, through investigative statistical analysis, the general overview, characteristics, and emerging trends of MNC R&D localization in China are examined. Furthermore, the motivations and impacts of MNC R&D localization in China are deeply analyzed, revealing the effects of R&D localization on China's scientific research system, industrial structure, and socio-economic development, as well as providing insights for the development of Chinese enterprises. The author conducts a game-theoretic empirical analysis of MNC R&D localization in China and further applies available statistical data and relevant literature to conduct empirical research on the return on investment of MNC R&D localization in China and China's industrial and technology policies. Meanwhile, a theoretical analysis is conducted on the profitability of MNC R&D localization in China's market. Based on the analysis results, China's countermeasures and policy recommendations are proposed regarding the goals and basic strategies of MNC R&D localization in China.
