Features: The Dictionary of Common Chinese Word Usage was compiled to meet the needs of foreigners learning Chinese. It is also suitable for teaching Chinese to ethnic minorities within China. As a reference tool, it provides direct value for teachers of Chinese to foreigners, other language professionals, and middle and primary school students. The compilers adhere to the principles of scientific, concise, popular, and practical approaches, focusing on explaining the semantics of words from the perspective of language use, providing extensive examples to help readers understand and master word usage. The number of examples under each entry varies depending on the complexity of the word's meaning and usage. The word list in this dictionary is entirely based on the Outline of Chinese Language Proficiency Vocabulary Grades compiled by the Department of Chinese Language Proficiency Tests of the Office of the National Leading Group on Teaching Chinese to Foreigners. To avoid adding to the readers' learning burden, the examples use words that do not exceed the Outline, and the explanations also limit grammatical terminology to the minimum extent possible. This dictionary includes 1,033 Level A words, 2,018 Level B words, most of the 2,202 Level C words, and a portion of the 3,568 Level D words from the Outline of Chinese Language Proficiency Vocabulary Grades, totaling 8,821 words.
