Features: The author has meticulously described all existing earlier editions of the Wenxuan, including various manuscripts, copies, and printed versions. He has conducted careful collation and textual criticism of these texts and provided detailed explanations of their significant contributions. In the latter part of the book, he thoroughly examines the various editions of the Wenxuan with Li Shan's annotations. Through exhaustive collation and verification, he points out that the You edition is not the same as the Northern Song Imperial Academy edition. However, after detailed research, he proves that the You edition is also not derived from the six-commentary versions but is based on the Li Shan edition, incorporating references from the Five Officials, Six Officials, and other versions. Research on the Wenxuan editions will provide a highly reliable foundation for future comprehensive compilations of the Wenxuan and the of Han, Wei, and the Six Dynasties literature.
