Features: Fu Chengjie is a professor at the Department of East Asian Studies, Peking University. Born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang in August 1934, he graduated from the Department of Vietnamese Language and Literature, School of East Asian Languages and Literatures, Peking University in 1955. He previously served as a lecturer and associate professor at the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Peking University. He is the president of the China Association of Teaching African and Asian Languages and the academic director of the Department of East Asian Studies. Fu Chengjie studied at the University of Hanoi in Vietnam from 1958 to 1961. He specializes in Vietnamese language and literature. After returning to China, he continued to teach and research Vietnamese at Peking University, serving as a master's supervisor. In addition to teaching, he engages in research on the Vietnamese language, authoring works such as "Fundamentals of Vietnamese" (co-authored) and "Practical Vietnamese Grammar" (co-authored). Among these, "Fundamentals of Vietnamese" won the Second Prize of the Ministry of Education's Outstanding Teaching Materials Award for Higher Education in 1992. He has published numerous academic papers, including "A Comparison of the Usage of Measure Words in Vietnamese and Chinese," "A Comparative Study of Address Terms in Modern Chinese and Vietnamese - With a Discussion on Address Terms and Traditional Culture in China and Vietnam," and "On the Components of Vietnamese Sentences." He has also translated numerous short stories and poems. Approved by the State Council, he enjoys special government subsidies.
