This series consists of four volumes: Science and Technology, Economy and Law, Literature and Arts, and Comprehensive. The content and difficulty of this series are closely aligned with the specific requirements of the new Teaching Requirements for College English Courses for reading comprehension. The passages are fresh and engaging, strong in both interest and knowledge, broadening horizons while providing insights into the ever-changing world outside. Science and Technology: The content covers various fields of natural sciences, such as basic scientific research, celestial bodies and the universe, space travel, ecological environmental protection, earthquake prediction, healthcare, biotechnology, animals and plants, computers, network information, hackers, transportation, and the development and current status of stem cell research and cloning technology.

Each volume in this series contains 100 passages, progressing from easy to difficult, with each passage ranging from 300 to 600 words, though a few are longer, exceeding 700 words, aimed at expanding information and practical reading needs. For self-study, each passage is followed by an analysis of vocabulary usage, grammar structures, or difficult sentences, with concise annotations and reading comprehension exercises that mirror the formats of the CET reading comprehension section, aiding readers in exam preparation. Reference translations are provided to help with understanding and improve translation skills, and each article includes exercise answers for self-assessment.
Each volume in this series also includes four authentic CET reading comprehension sections and answers from January 2003 to June 2004.
