Features: I first met Guochen in 1996. Comrades from the Dalian Municipal Propaganda Department proposed and led us to the Jinshan Beach Tourist Resort. Upon arriving there, we were immediately captivated by the location and its philosophy. The stone beach was unique, the scenery profound, the environment beautiful, the activities engaging, and the guidance clear, grand, and full of wisdom. No wonder, the host was a Ph.D. professor transferred from a university, and Guochen was then serving as the director of the tourist resort. When I saw Guochen again, he had been transferred to serve as the deputy director of the Dalian Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee. His focus broadened, his topics expanded, and his insights became even deeper. Over time, we exchanged visits—Guochen came to Xinjiang, ascended Mount Tian Shan, visited Turpan, Urumqi, and Dalian, and we communicated through letters and phone calls, discussing social phenomena and the underlying circumstances. When it comes to society, Guochen has his perspective, his reflections, and his speculations. After finishing the book, closing it, and reflecting, it won't be long before I read it again.
