Features: The "China Folk Customs Series" was a series of books published by our press in the late 1980s and early 1990s of the 20th century. Scholarly calligraphy and painting are a rare branch of art that grew on the soil of feudal autocracy, relying on special nourishment. Its rise and development caused the already divergent Chinese and Western cultural arts to go their separate ways. If it reflects the thoughts, interests, and aesthetic views of ancient scholars and literati, it more profoundly reflects the lifestyle and customs of the feudal society that nurtured it, playing a very important role in shaping the national psychology and character. Since the publication of the "China Folk Customs Series," it has received strong responses both at home and abroad. Since 1987, national important media such as People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, China Daily, Social Sciences in China, and Historical Research have published over 100 book reviews, this series is the first large-scale series in China to comprehensively and deeply study folk culture, and the first large-scale series in the country since the 20th century to scientifically and systematically discuss folk culture, filling a significant gap. Editing this "China Folk Customs Series" aims to systematically and comprehensively introduce the formation, content, and characteristics of folk customs of all ethnic groups in China, both past and present, to readers at home and abroad. We hope this series will help readers understand the psychological characteristics of our nation through the diverse forms of Chinese folk customs, thereby further studying the major topic of "Chinese Traditional Culture and Modernization."
