Features: This book primarily adopts the modern standard script, but for commonly used homophones in classical texts, such as "" as "," "" as "," "" as "," "" as "," and "" as "," as well as some archaic or variant characters in address terms, are retained to preserve the original meaning. Book titles cited in references are occasionally abbreviated. When citing the same book consecutively without interruption in China, the practice of omitting the repeated title is generally followed: the full title is listed the first time, and only the chapter title (for historical records, only the person's name; for the Three Confucian Commentaries, only the year) is cited thereafter. For the New and Old Tang Histories, the New and Old Five Dynasties Histories, if the same historical event is recorded in both, only "Tang History" and "Five Dynasties History" are noted; if unique to one, "New" or "Old" is added for distinction. The Historical Records of the Three Kingdoms, which were previously categorized as "Zhi" (Records), were renamed "Books" in current editions. This book retains the old terminology. The focus is on address terms. Texts outside address terms were mostly edited by the original author. In our edition, strict accuracy is required for references and address terms; for other narrative texts, as long as the original meaning is preserved, leniency is applied. To facilitate reading and clarify the hierarchical relationships of interconnected citations, these narrative texts (though not verbatim) are still marked with quotation marks.
