Architecture Myriad Miscellaneous Records

Author: Yang Yongsheng
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2004-02-01
Features: This miscellany is the ninth book in the "Architecture Classics" series. Its content covers various aspects of architecture, and the perspectives are not entirely consistent, hence the term "miscellaneous." As for "knowledge," it refers to insights; "record" suggests it was compiled from newspapers or specialized books. Regarding "Architecture Classics," it implies several generations of architects and a large number of contributors, not that the author was labeled as an architect by this title. Putting it all together, it becomes "Miscellaneous Insights from Architecture Classics." Due to its "miscellaneous" nature, it is difficult to categorize, but arranging the articles by publication year seems to reveal the different perceptions and developmental process of the architectural field in various historical periods regarding these topics. The articles by the late author were all selected and compiled by the editor. The articles by some elderly second-generation architects were also chosen by the editor. As for the authors who are still engaged in design, teaching, and research, they selected and submitted their own works; some submitted two or three articles, entrusting the editor to choose. A few authors also wrote special articles specifically for this book. Gratitude is extended to all of them. Basically, each author contributed one article, but a few were selected twice. Each article is approximately 3,000 words long, with some exceeding the limit, as it was difficult to omit any part. Nothing should be uniform—there are always exceptions.
