Publishing Date: 2002-09-01
Features: The Tibetan Empire established a dynasty in the history of the motherland for over two hundred years, almost coexisting with the Tang Dynasty's rule from the early 7th century to the mid-9th century. During these two hundred years, it created a splendid and brilliant culture with rich literature and archives, making it an extremely valuable treasure in the cultural treasury of the motherland. However, in the 9th century, the Langdarma occurred, severely destroying many important historical documents of the Tibetan Empire. It wasn't until the 14th century that Tibetan scholars began to write about the history of their predecessors, including this book, "The History of the Tibetan Kings." This book was started by the Sakyapa monk Danba Tenzin Gyatso in 1328, the Earth Dragon year of the 6th Karmapa cycle, the first year of the Tianli period of the Yuan Emperor Wenzong, and completed in 1388, the Earth Dragon year of the 7th Karmapa cycle, the 21st year of the Hongwu period of the Ming Emperor Taizu. On one hand, this book was written in the absence of historical materials at the time, hence it is particularly valued. The original book was divided into eighteen chapters, with about five to six chapters dedicated to topics related to religion, followed by the lineage of the Tibetan kings, with a focus on the history of the three Dharma Kings: Songtsen Gampo, Trisong Detsen, andRalpacan, known as the three generations of Dharma Kings who promoted Buddhism. Especially prominent is Songtsen Gampo, with chapters dedicated to his deeds spanning over six to seven chapters. This book is part of the "Liu Liqian Tibetan Studies Translation Series." It is hoped that this book will bring some interest to readers who enjoy history.
