Features: This is the true history of the Beatles, narrated by those who truly knew them—their childhood friends, family, rivals, lovers, teachers, fellow musicians, and even John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr themselves. Witness the Beatles digs into the band's history, revealing their exciting and turbulent early years in Liverpool and Hamburg, the groundbreaking recording of their first hit song She Loves You, the success and exhaustion of their tours, behind-the-scenes secrets of the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, and more. Through the voices of a diverse cast of characters, we learn how the Beatles helped the Rolling Stones get started, why they stopped touring in 1966 when their reputation was at its peak, and the real reasons behind their breakup in 1970. At their peak, the Beatles were the greatest band in rock history, and more than that—they were an irresistible force, a magnetic whirlwind that touched everything they passed: fashion, film, sex, satire, rock, and change. Their story is the story of an entire generation. But from beginning to end, they remained true to their essence: four guys, witty, vulnerable, often in love, constantly in trouble, occasionally angry, but always, and forever, the greatest rock and roll geniuses in history. No one before or after has had such an influence, and no one has held such a pivotal position like the Beatles. This book tells their story.
