Features: The original purity of life is untouched. The fresh red it brings has endowed it with the meaning of burning. The flesh will eventually perish. But now, on this journey, I haven’t yet built a home for my soul. It shouldn’t drift like a feather, rootless. I hope it becomes a two-footed fish, able to swim freely in either world, to discover the secrets I failed to uncover in life. Then, in some way, it will tell me, allowing me to see all the flaws in life. Some say: "We cherish life because we fear death." But I say: "It is because we do not fear death that we are more enchanted by living, living woundedly." Life will grow valuable!
Excerpt: A pair of insoles The weather is getting colder. On a Sunday, with leisure time, I tidied up my messy clothes. In the corner of the wardrobe, a bulging plastic bag caught my eye. Opening it, I found several pairs of brand-new underwear, socks, and a pair of thick, white insoles. Yesterday, when I changed my shoes, I couldn’t find the insoles, so I decided to use these. Holding the insoles, I felt their weight was heavy. This was what my wife brought for me when I worked in the grasslands of Chahar. They have been closed up in this wardrobe for two years. Since my arm was injured, I feared the cold, so I rarely came into this room and stayed elsewhere. Many daily necessities have long been neglected by me, but these insoles stood out starkly. Suddenly, an inexplicable pain surged over me. How many ordinary little things in the world can shake your nerves when the background or perspective changes? Things that seem insignificant to others are etched deeply in your heart. If God had led me to the cemetery when I shouldn’t have, without even a chance to say goodbye, not even a wave in time, I believe a pair of insoles would have crushed the heart that touched them. Fortunately, the insoles kept my feet warm. Life continues, and a heart that cannot bear the weight avoids rummaging through relics and avoids collapse. How many misfortunes and blessings in life can be foreseen? Not at all. Life is full of uncertainties. But one thing is certain: whether blessed or cursed, as long as you are willing, the sun never refuses to illuminate every life. Without the warmth of family and friends to rescue me from the cold of life, I would never have had the courage to face this misfortune. Without the sun’s light, this patchy, tattered arm would have withered in the summer of life. I believe that as long as the heart is warm, warmth is everywhere. As long as you long for the sun, the sun is everywhere.
The other new underwear I had kept for two years, I wore through in a week. I greedily enjoyed the warmth of another life, afraid of losing it without realizing it. I curled up in warmth, licking my wounds. I broke free from melancholy. I no longer stood sadly in the snow, slowly chewing on pain.
The electric hot pot I use most often, also specially prepared for me by my wife. It was as if I were to live on a desolate, uninhabited island, and she even brought over an entire box of "Big Red Bowl" instant noodles for me. I hadn’t even had a chance to open them when I collapsed on the road. Two years later, today, I hesitated greatly, considering how to deal with this severely expired "food." I couldn’t eat it. Throwing it away was out of the question (afraid someone might pick it up and misuse it), and the situation was naturally difficult to put into words. Being cared for by others is a blessing. Even a pair of ordinary insoles can leave beautiful marks on the rings of life. I am happy.
