A Selection of Fine Chinese and International Children's Choir Songs. Western Europe: A Collection of Songs Performed by the Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra Youth and Women's Choir

Author: Yang Hongnian

Publish Date: 2004-01-01
Features: This collection includes 42 outstanding Chinese children's choir songs performed by the choir over the past 20 years, most of which are adapted and accompanied by piano by Professor Yang. The book includes the following notes:
1. Due to historical conventions and musical style characteristics, we currently categorize the songs from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and other Eastern European countries during the Soviet period under the "Eastern European Songs" section.
2. For foreign songs, we have made every effort to use a bilingual (Chinese and foreign language) format. Some songs even use a trilingual (Chinese, foreign language, and another language) format to meet the needs of different choirs. For some foreign songs, to preserve the original style, we have opted to sing the original lyrics with supplementary Chinese translations. Other songs are performed with only the Chinese translation.
3. Since our choir consists of two parts—the "Youth Team" and the "Girls' Team"—some songs in the collection are suitable only for female voice choirs.
4. We have provided brief introductions for some songs. Some of the content is excerpted from Mr. He Xide's 365 Famous Classical and Modern Foreign Songs.
5. The collection also includes a small number of religious works. The purpose is to appropriately introduce the influence of religious culture on musical life in Western choral music, and we hope readers will approach such works from a materialist historical perspective.
