Features: This book consists of two parts, using as many examples from Beethoven's piano sonatas as possible. The second part thoroughly analyzes the forms of all of Beethoven's piano sonatas from beginning to end. In the second part, to achieve the purpose of formal analysis, why did I only select Beethoven's piano sonatas? As university students know, Beethoven is a master of instrumental forms, and his formal art is itself extremely refined and perfect! Moreover, Beethoven's treatment of forms is endlessly varied! We can learn a lot from Beethoven. However, due to space constraints, this book cannot list all the works needed to study forms. The selections here are only some works that students already have or can easily find. Why don't we limit the analysis to certain sonatas instead of analyzing all of them? The reason is simple: On one hand, for those with a strong desire for knowledge, to gain a perfect understanding of forms, one must analyze many works; on the other hand, I did not want to exclude Beethoven's late sonatas from our analysis, because his late sonatas have achieved a higher level of development in formal art compared to his early sonatas.
