Features: Professor Cen Zhongmian (1886-1961) was a renowned modern historian of China, dedicated his entire life to historical research. He made outstanding contributions in various fields such as the history of the Sui and Tang dynasties, pre-Qin history, ancient textual studies, Sino-Western exchanges and ethnic relations, and historical and geographical. He was highly respected by the historical academies both in China and abroad. The Ten Treatises in the current edition of the Book of Sui, totaling thirty volumes, were originally titled "Treatises of the Five Dynasties," and were separate works from the fifty-five-volume History of the Sui. Their dates and authors were different. Among those who made significant efforts in compiling these treatises, such as Zhang Zongyuan's Bibliography of the Sui and Yao Zhenzong's Bibliography of the Sui, as well as Yang Shoujing's Geography of the Sui, were all masterpieces of their time, needless to say.
