Features: During the Taiping Xingguo period of the Song Dynasty, after obtaining the records and books of various states, the (subjugated kings) and their ministers were all renowned scholars in the land. Some expressed grievances, and all were thoroughly employed. They were placed in the imperial academies, provided with generous stipends, and tasked with compiling numerous books. These included 1,693 types of works such as the Xuwenyu, Yiwencailu, Wenensi Bao, and Jingshizi Jicong, which were compiled into 1,000 volumes and named the Taiping Yulian. The Taiping Yulian exists in over ten versions. After the Commercial Press published a photolithographic edition of the Song Dynasty original in 1935, it became the most popular version for over two decades. To meet the needs of researchers, Zhonghua Book Company decided to reduce the size of the Commercial Press's photolithographic Taiping Yulian. They combined two pages of the photolithographic edition into one page, with two columns per page. Originally, it was planned to be published in 136 volumes, but now it is condensed into four large volumes, with the font size not reduced too much. This greatly increases convenience in both purchasing and collecting, as well as in research and reference.
