Features: Guo Zaiyi (1939-1989) was a member of the Standing Committee of the 6th People's Congress of Zhejiang Province and a member of the China Association for Science and Technology. During his lifetime, he concurrently served as a council member of the Chinese Language Society, a council member of the Dunhuang-Turfan Society of China, the vice president of the Chinese Etymology Research Association, the vice president of the Language and Literature Committee of the Dunhuang-Turfan Society of China, and the vice president of the Zhejiang Language Society. He dedicated his life to the teaching and research of Chinese language and literature, achieving outstanding accomplishments in fields such as etymology, Dunhuang studies, and the study of Chu Ci. This collection includes four of his academic works: Collected Essays on Etymology, Annotations on the Dunhuang, Etymology, and Wen Cun of Min An. The appendix includes: Xu Jialu's epitaph for Guo Zaiyi, written in 1990; a heartfelt and moving remembrance by Liu Jian, written in 1996; a bibliography of Guo Zaiyi's works; and an index for Guo Zaiyi's Collected Works.
