This book is a research achievement of the National "Fifteenth Five-Year" Plan Project in Educational Science. Economic applied mathematics is the advanced mathematics used in economic management. Applying mathematics to economics can deeply reveal the complex interrelationships and trends in modern economics that are difficult to express through qualitative analysis alone, provide direction for economic decision-making, and predict the direct and indirect effects of these decisions. This textbook accurately grasps the positioning of the economic mathematics course and the development of the discipline, striving to maintain the rationality of the subject system and the systematicity of teaching content while ensuring the rigor of economic concepts and the timeliness of the course, truly reflecting the characteristics of "mathematics as the foundation and economics as the application" in economic mathematics.
In accordance with the basic requirements of this course and the diverse needs of society for applied talent cultivation in higher education during the significant transition from elite education to mass education in China, this textbook is divided into two volumes, totaling 15 chapters. The basic content of the first volume includes: limits and continuity, derivatives and differentials, mean value theorems and applications of derivatives, indefinite integrals, definite integrals, calculus of multivariable functions, and an introduction to ordinary differential equations. The basic content of the second volume includes: series, fundamentals of linear algebra, applications of linear algebra, basic probability, random vectors, data processing, statistical inference, analysis of variance, and regression analysis. The content covers the essential mathematical foundation required for higher education majors in economic management, enabling students to develop preliminary abilities to analyze and solve economic and management problems using both qualitative and quantitative methods. It also lays the necessary mathematical foundation for students to study economic and management courses and engage in economic management work in the future.
The author has a thorough understanding of students' needs through long-term teaching practice. In the writing process, the starting point is lowered, the difficulty is reduced, and the content is streamlined, making it suitable for students in economic and management majors of universities that focus on cultivating applied talents.
