Features: This listening textbook is entirely designed according to the characteristics of the PETS Level 5 exam. The main content is divided into three parts: (1) Warm-up and Preparation; (2) Skill Practice; (3) Comprehensive Challenge. The textbook is fully equipped with tapes recorded by British and American experts for candidates to practice. Reference answers are provided for each part. Considering the requirements of the exam syllabus and the needs of candidates for English listening skills, combined with the exam format of listening at this level, the textbook meets candidates' needs in the following two aspects: (1) Familiarize with the exam format: The listening section of Level 5 lasts 35 minutes and consists of three types of questions. To match the exam format, each unit in this textbook includes exercises for all three types of questions. (2) Familiarize with the exam content: Considering the close relationship between speaking and listening skills, the textbook establishes 12 different thematic units based on communicative topics, with each unit focusing on one theme. According to the principle that language input should exceed language output and the requirements of the exam syllabus, the language selected for the content is more challenging than that of the speaking level at the same stage. However, due to the varying difficulty of the themes, the difficulty of the selected materials also differs. All words exceeding the vocabulary list for this level are annotated, but these words are no longer annotated if they appear again in later units. Common geographical names and personal names are generally not annotated.
